Amit Pawar was an Indian Film Editor. He earned his fame predominantly by his work in the Hindi Cinema. However, he also worked frequently in Marathi movies and tried his hand one in Tamil Film Industry. He was born on the September 11, in the year 1972. His native city is the metropolitan, Bollywood city of India – Mumbai, Maharashtra. Being born in the city of films and dreams, he always wanted to make a career in the Indian Film Industry. His area of interest was mainly filmmaking. With basic theoretical knowledge and a lot of experience which was gained by working as Assistant on sets, he embarked his journey as a Film Editor. At the age of 38, on the 20th of February in the year 2010, he passed away in his hometown – Mumbai, India. Having lost his life in his residence at such a young age left the entire Film Industry and his acquaintances shocked and in mourning.

The reason of his death was not revealed by the family members. Amit started his career in the year 2003 with the movie Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hu. Being from a background with absolutely no reference to the Film Industry, it was very difficult for him to break in the circuit. He did his first movie officially as the Film Editor at the age of 31. Although the film didn’t do much business, his skills were noticed by some dignitaries in the industry. He received multiple offers in Marathi Film Industry. In the subsequent years from 2004 to 2007, he did Marathi flicks like Supari, Yanda Kartayya Aahe, Dombivali fast, Majha Navra Tujhi Bayako and Saade Maade Teen. He also did a film in the Tamil Film Industry called Evano Oruvan.

The appreciation and recognition he received from his work in Marathi flicks, bagged him another mainstream Bollywood project. Hangama (2009), Harishchandrachi Factory (2009), Ringa Ringa (2010) and Kshanbhar Vishranti (2010) are some other films he edited before passing away. In his short longing career in the Film Industry, he created a mark for himself in editing. Apart from receiving several nominations for his impeccable work, he also received a few awards. He received the highly celebrated Filmfare Award for Best Editing, just before his death, in the year 2009.
