Folk musician Chandan Tiwari performs in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Awadhi, and Nagpuri (especially in the Bhojpuri language). She has hosted Special Folk and Ghajal Recording programmes for All India Radio Patna. She has consistently advocated for the inclusion of women and their empowerment in folk music. In Badka Gaon, Bhojpur district, Bihar, India, Chandan Tiwari was born. She was raised in Jharkhand's Chas okaro. She graduated with honors from Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh with a BA in Anthropology. She also has a six-year-old Prabhakar from the Allahabad-based Prayag Sangeet Samiti. For the Maithili and Bhojpuri Academy, Government of Delhi, she is conducting a study on uncommon and rural Bhojpuri songs. She has also served as the host of a few folk music-related TV programs and radio shows for stations including Radio Mirchi and Radio Dhoom. She has consistently opposed vulgarity in the music business. She has performed at festivals organised by the government of Madhya Pradesh, including kajari and bhojpuri.

She has received numerous honours, including the Sangeet Natak Academi Award from the Indian government, the Bihar Kala Samman from the Bihar government, the Bhojpuri Kokila Samman from the Pashchim Bang Bhojpuri Parishad in Kolkata, the Changemaker Icon of Bihar designation from the Bihar government, the Best Traditional Folk Singer Award from News-24 and Radio Dhamal B.A.G Films, among others. In addition to this, she has worked on social musical projects with children from an orphanage, Aanchal Shishu Ashram. She is also developing a platform called LOKRAAG for rural, new, and prohibited musicians to openly communicate their views, notions, and skills regarding folk.
