Mamoni Raisom Goswami was an Assamese editor, poet, lecturer, researcher, and writer who lived from 1942 until 2011. She was born on November 14, 1942, and was given the name Indira Goswami at birth. She was affectionately referred to as Mamoni Baideo and was better known by her pen name, Mamoni Raisom Goswami. The emphasis on women and the political and cultural framework of Assamese society has been the most significant elements of Goswami's writings. Indira Goswami was born in Assam's Guwahati. Umakanta Goswami and Ambaika Devi gave birth to her. Since she was a little child, Goswami suffered from depression. At Latashil Primary School, Goswami attended classes. From Handique Girls College, she earned an intermediate arts degree. She earned her degree in Assamese literature from Cotton College.

At Gauhati University, she earned her postgraduate degree in Assamese literature. Madhavan Raisom Iyengar was the man she was wed to. She fell into despair after her husband died unexpectedly in a car accident in the Indian state of Kashmir, and she developed a dependency on high quantities of sleeping drugs. Goswami started writing to improve his quality of life. She claimed that had she not been a writer, she would not have lived. She had a job at Goalpara's Sainik School. She did a study in the Uttar Pradesh city of Vrindavan. Her book "The Blue Necked Braja" discusses her experiences as a widow and researcher. The subject of the book is the sexual exploitation of the Vrindavan "Radhaswamis." Later, she began working as a lecturer at Delhi University.

The heyday of Goswami's life occurred while he was enrolled at Delhi University. She wrote most of her best works while she was a student at the university. During this time, she wrote two classics and several short stories. Goswami died on November 29, 2011. Her various organ failures were documented. A well-known author of contemporary Indian literature is Indira Goswami. Several renowned authors’ works have been translated from Assamese into English. "The Moth-Eaten Howdah of the Tusker," "Pages Stained with Blood," and "The Man from Chinnamasta" stand out among them. When Ransom was still a student, she released "Chinaki Morom," her first collection of short stories.

Her novels "Ahiron" and "The Chehnab's Current" draw on her experiences in Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh. She discusses the sexual exploitation of the Vrindavan "Radhaswamis" in her book "The Blue Necked Braja." The novel revealed Vrindavan's less appealing side. The novel has drawn criticism from society's most conservative groups. It is a classic of contemporary writing. It is based on my own life. Aside from "Pages stained with blood," "Dwarka and his gun," "The Journey," "Pain and Flesh," etc., she is also the author of those works.

Goswami's novel serves as the basis for the movie "Adajya." It was honored internationally. A movie called "Words from the Mist" was made about Goswami. She has received numerous honors and awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award for Mamore Dhora Tarowal, the Bharat Nirman Award, the Sauhardya Award from the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan of the Indian government, the Katha National Award for Literature, the Kamal Kumari Foundation National Award in 1996, the Jnanpith Award, a D Litt degree from Rabindra Bharati University in West Bengal, among others.
