Remanti Rai

Remanti Rai is an Assamese singer who originates from Sikkim. Born to Bimla Rai and Jitman Rai, music has been a significant influence on her life since her childhood days. She joined Bal Bikash of Sri Satya Sai Organisation when she was six and continued through high school with music as just a hobby. Her parents wanted her to secure a government post since she never had any formal training in music. She completed her graduation with a Bachelor in Arts and then a Post-Graduation in History from the University of North Bengal. Gradually, she realized music was her calling and set out to pursue it as her career, in which she is very successful today.

Her most significant influences in terms of music are bhajans, which she first started with and connected the most to, but then slowly immersed herself in all kinds of songs and created an identity for herself. Her accomplishments are many, including receiving the Sikkim Kala Samman in 2013 from the Government of Sikkim, being the winner of North East Superstars, and acting as a judge in ‘North East Got Talent- (Season two). Remanti Rai’s own project is Remanti Sangeet Academy, which is an institution of hope for many music lovers out there. She is also a very integral part of RR Mukti and Nari, musical-social events that use music as a medium to address various social causes. A few of her most famous works are ‘Pokhawna Sakina’ and ‘Mann’. She continues to be an inspiration in Sikkim as well as the Indian music industry.
