Manas Robin is also known as Manas Jyoti Gogoi. He is a famous Assamese music director, musician, singer, lyricist, Bihu artist, filmmaker, and music producer. He was born on December 3, 1976, in Sivasagar, Assam, India. His father’s name is Mr Rabindra Nath Gogoi, and her mother’s name is Mrs. Tilabala Dihingia. He completed his primary education at Nimaijan Prathamik Vidyalaya (Primary School). After that, he took his matriculation at Sivasagar Government Higher Secondary School, Assam. Later, he went to Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat, Assam. He married Sumita Baruah, with whom he has two children, namely Deresa Robin and Shivayush Robin. He has been living in Gauhati, Assam.
Manas Robin is counted among the top musicians of Assam. Manas Robin brought a new lease of life to the folk music of the Northeast by composing songs using hitherto unsung folk tunes from the various ethnic communities. Also, Manas Robin’s Production has built a good reputation in the entertainment industry and event industry in the Northeast. Manas Robin’s debut solo album titled Niharika under the banner of Music Makers was released in 1995. In 1997, his second album, titled “Ujan Piriti,” was released under the Typhoon Production. It was followed by Manas Kanya and Barasha under Saraswati Communications in 1999. In 1999, he composed music for Priya O’ Priya and became the youngest music director in the Assamese film industry. Since then, he has done music direction for more than twenty Assamese feature films. Also, he directed music for more than five hundred music albums in the Assamese and other languages of the Northeast.
He has also directed and produced many VCD films in Assamese, such as Jonbai. He won several awards for Assamese feature films, including Prag Cine Award for Best Lyricist in 2002, Chitralekha Award for Best video filmmaker (Jonbai) in 2006, Public Award for Socio-Cultural activities (Romani Gabaru Botah) in 2011, and Public Award for Socio-Cultural activities (Pangrao Phukan Botah) in 2019. He received the Best music director award in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
