Poran Borkotok is a famous music producer, composer, vocalist, and lyricist. He is well-known for his music ‘Jojo.’ He is originally from Guwahati. If you regularly listen to Assamese music, you must have heard his name and seen his creative work on several albums, films, and jingles. He is one of the new-generation music composers, taking Assamese music to new heights with his fresh ideas and out-of-the-box experiments with various musical genres. Poran is known for his experiments and combinations with the local music of Assam and North-East in his few projects, which convey the scent of society culture. Since 2003, Poran has been associated with the media. However, because he began his work as a sound engineer in Mumbai, ‘Sound’ was more important to him at that time than music.

But music was calling to him, so he followed his heart. When he finally chose to return to Guwahati, his hometown, the genuine journey of a dreamer began. Poran does not want to limit himself to only one genre or traditional music. He has been experimenting with different genres in each of his projects, undoubtedly enhancing the musical nature of the state without affecting the regional taste. From his works, one can easily sense his exceptional musical ability regarding his musical experiments and his restlessness with music. His preferences are folk, Indie, Rock, and Electronic music. So far, Poran is acknowledged for 1500 songs of various genres. Poran worked on several films, including Ejaak Jonakir Jilmil (2007), Dhan Kuberor Dhan (2011), Tumi, Ka Pise Hanuman & La La Ka Snam (in Khasi language, 2012 & 2013), Adhinayak (2004), and Mon Jai (2008), which won a National Award.

Poran is appreciated for colossal quantities of ads and jingles for different corporate houses like Huge 92.7 FM, Canara Bank, Airtel, Dependence, Vodafone, Topcem, Pepsi, SBI, HDFC, Goodbye, Maruti Suzuki, and so on. Poran’s other notable works include the theme songs for the 2007 National Games at Ranchi National Games. An extensive list of successful projects has made him one of the famous composers in the music industry.
