Aroop Borah is one of Jollywood's most skilled, versatile, and attractive performers. He was born to Nilakanta Borah and Tillotoma Borah on January 15th, 1978, in Chennai. He was lovingly called Babu or Babli by his family. He is the youngest of three siblings. His wife's name is Jasmine Ck Borah. His family relocated to Assam after his father's retirement. His father's birthplace was Nagaon. His father served in the air force as an airman. As a result of his father's postings in numerous places, he had to move schools. His primary education from class I to class IV was in Shillong. He studied from class V to class VI in Nagaon. The rest of his education up to class XII was in Guwahati. He completed his HSLC and HS at the KV CRPF School in Guwahati. He received his bachelor's degree in arts from B. Borooah College in Guwahati. He then traveled to Delhi to pursue a professional course. In Delhi, he joined an acting troupe that insisted on his participation.

He acted for three months and learned the basics and style of a professional dramatic actor. With the support of a woman, he landed a role in a serial under the production house known as Adhikari Brothers. His quality debut performances grabbed the attention of a friend in the Assamese film industry. This friend brought him to Assam for further career prospects. In Assam, he got a minor part in the Assamese film Chakrabehu. Throughout his career, he created numerous video songs, and the well-recognized one is named 'Sip sip Borokhun.' He also engagingly participated in mobile theatres. Alakananda was his first mobile theatre. He played a protagonist role in the VCD film Anjana made under NK production. It was his first leading role since he started his acting career. Other successful films which are praised for his performances were Dada Tumi Dusta Bor, Adhinayak and Bornodi Bhotiai (2019).
