“Sarbath” is a comedy film scripted and directed by Prabhakaran. Lalit Kumar produced the film under the 7 Screen Studio banner. “Ajesh” composed the music, the cinematography is by Prabhakaran and editing is by “Prasanna GK.” The film has “Kathir,” Rahasya Gorak, “Soori,” Ashvatt, Siddharth Vipin, Vivek Prasanna, “G Marimuthu,” Indhumathi, Suhasini, Florent Pereira and Baby Joy in the cast.
Anbu and Arivu are brothers. Arivu is an IT professional. Anbu is engaged and to attend his marriage, Arivu comes to his village. Anbu’s marriage gets canceled. Only then, Arivu comes to know that his lover, Aruna was his brother’s fiance. What happens next? Did Anbu get married? What happened to Arivu and Aruna’s love story? The answers form the rest of the story.
Kathir is okayish in his performance. Vivek Prasanna got a neat role to perform. Soori is good not only in comedy but also in a couple of emotional scenes. Rahasya is a template heroine and has nothing special to do. Ashvat did a decent job.
This is not a new story, but very few scenes are interesting for the performances. The music composition is good - the songs and the BGM are decent. Certain characters should have been developed well. The cinematography and editing are okayish. Although the narration is pretty decent, the weak plot didn’t allow it to shine. Although there are no memorable comedy sequences, something has worked out quite decently.
What’s Not There?
Sarbath has its positives and negatives. Although the film didn’t have a magical comedy, it can be watched once!
