The Girl on the Train is a mystery thriller flick based on a book of the same name, written by Paula Hawkins, a British author. The film directed by Ribhu Dasgupta has Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. Avinash Tiwari, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Nisha Aaliya, Suresh Sippy, Diljohn Singh, Shamaun Ahmed, Monisha Hassen, Krishan Tandon, Nina Kumar, Vaunisha Kapoor, Richa Lawrie, Vishakh Vadgama, Persephone Hulewicz and Natasha Benton are playing supporting roles. Vivek B Agarwal and Shibashish Sarkar produced the film. Gilad Benamram, Chandan Saxena, Sunny, Inder Bawra and Vipin Patwa composed the music. Tribhuvan Babu Sadineni handled the camera and Sangeeth Varghese edited the film. It is a Netflix release.
Mira Kapoor was a popular lawyer. She is happily married and is about to have a kid. But, an accident turned her life upside down and she became an alcoholic, who also suffers from amnesia. During her regular train journey, Mira comes across a beautiful house and Nusrat. One day, Nusrat is dead and some marks of Mira are found near the place where Nusrat is found dead. Who killed Nusrat? Was Mira involved in the crime? The answers form the rest of the story.
Parineeti is okayish with her performance. Yet, she could have tried better. Kirti Kulhari is good in her role and Aditi did her best in the available screen time. Avinash and Tota did what is required.
The story is already filmed in English in the same name and Emily Blunt did the lead role a few years ago. Most of the remakes compel the stars to better up the performance that of the original version. This pressurizes the stars and sometimes it works out positively and many stars had excelled than the original. But, we can’t expect this always and that’s the case here. However, the stars are rightly placed and they did justice. Ribhu’s direction is good to an extent. The supporting characters are well-made and give full support to the lead character and the story. The BGM is good and the songs are average. The production values are decent.
What’s Not There?
With a good story, star cast and decent direction, the film make the audience have a one-time watch! If you are a mystery thriller movie fan, you can try this!
