Saswati sen is an eminent Indian dancer and choreographer and also an exponent of classical dance from Kathak. She was born in a legal and medical professional family but she took dance as her profession. Saswati's initial dance training was from Delhi’s Kathak Kendra under the guidance of Smt. Reba Vidyarthi. She was the early disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj. She achieved great success in the field of dancing and received many awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2004-2005 and the Sanskriti Award, the Shringar Mani Award, and the Critic’s Recommendation Award.
Saswati holds immense versatility in dancing and also is the best exponent of the Lucknow Gharana dance form. She has students to give dance training. She has a real presenting skill of both lyrical grace and rhythmic virtuosity of Kathak. She is the driving force of Pandit Birju Maharaj's dream institute Kalashram. She travels all over the world and gathers and disseminates the knowledge of Kathak. Saswati also choreographed various competitions and dance dramas.
