Virassat is a Pakistani serial that premiered in 2013 on Geo TV. It is an Urdu-language serial that focuses on a fictional political situation developed through a conflicting generational inheritance of power. It focuses on the life of Saiyada Farah and Makhdoom Minhaj as they battle for the inheritance of power left behind by Makhdoom Iptiha Saeed. The story begins by Makhdoom Minhaj acquiring political power after his veteran politician father, Makhdoom Iptiha Saeed passed away. As the first son of the veteran politician, it was evident for Minhaj to lead the political party and continue the glory of his father. However, Saiyada Farah who married the veteran politician felt it was her right to enter the political sphere after her husband’s death.
Minhaj who has been there for his father 20 years before Saiyada came into his life thinks the power was destined to be given to him. Saiyada plans to conquer the heritage her husband left for her kids until they are grown up. Minhaj faces a personal problem as Jani Minhaj, his secret wife, persuades him to make their relationship official. Minhaj had to hide his secret marriage because of his father’s reputation. Minhaj already has two wives although he loves Jani Minhaj`he thinks revealing their relationship will cause trouble as elections are near.
