Sirat-e-Mustaqeem is an emotionally intense Pakistani family television serial that was originally aired on TV One. The show is in Urdu. The show was released in 2012. The protagonist of this show is a conflicted young man named Mustaqeem. He often gets stuck on a point where he has to choose between the right path and the rebellious path. This moral dilemma keeps him hanging in between two paths. He was born in a religious home where the right path was the spiritual one. He was born into a pious family where the upbringing taught him to be deeply religious. But he decided to go on the other destructive path. As he grew older, a sense of restlessness and rebellion began to surface. He became a rebel and got involved in criminal activities, violence, deceit, immoral relationships, and all the sinful things. His soul searching is overshadowed by a lifestyle of sin. He once fell in love with a girl, but the love story didn't end well. This was a turning point in his life. He had a major heartbreak. Because of this, he decided to move out of his hometown. He chose to live in Karachi, and the story shifted to Karachi. The life of Mustaqeem takes a drastic turn when he gets stuck in a bad condition due to all the wrongdoings that he did. He tries to reflect and think about his life choices, his faith and the path he has chosen. He is stuck in a feeling of guilt and spiritual emptiness. “Sirat-e-Mustaqeem” is a phrase of the holy Quran that translates to “The Straight Path”. This straight path symbolises the righteous, divine path that is the road to heaven and eternal peace. Sirat-e-Mustaqeem is prescribed by Allah to those who seek redemption. Mustaqeem met with many spiritually enlightened people and circumstances that forced him to rethink his path and do the right things in life. This signifies the spiritual rebirth of Mustaqeem. His rebirth is not immediate but happens gradually. The show features some Islamic teachings, Quran Verses, and religious sermons to educate the audience about the moral lessons of life.
