The story is about a poor orphan girl, Romaisa (Sanam Jung), who lived with her aunt (Farah Shah), who was cruel and money-minded. The only loyal people she had were her friends Nosheen, Nabeel, and Zeeshan (brother of Nabeel). Nabeel (Meekal Zulfiqar) was a wealthy businessman who fell in love with Romaisa and married her. Nabeel's family - except for his younger brother, Zeeshan (Adeel Hussain) - misbehaves with Romaisa. Aunts and cousins of Romaisa always demanded luxuries from Romaisa and Nabeel. Nabeel never refuses Romaisa and tries his best to make her happy.

Some months after marriage, Nabeel dies in a car crash. Now, it becomes effortless for his family to treat Romaisa like an unpaid servant. Her aunt took her back home, as she knew that Nabeel had transferred a lot of money and a house in Romaisa's name. Her aunt wanted to file a petition in the court for the property of Romaisa and wanted Romaisa to marry her son (Sajid). But Zeeshan takes her back to their house.

Again, in her In-laws, her life became miserable. She had to do all the housework with servants but got no appreciation from households. It was found that Nabeel had written all his will in the name of Romaisa, who was expecting his child. Soon, Romaisa and Nabeel's daughter, Maham, were born. Romaisa's father-in-law asks Zeeshan to marry Romaisa, pretending that this was for her security, but the real intention was that Nabeel's share of wealth should stay within the family. Zeeshan, an upright police officer, has already gone through his Nikah (marriage) with Rabia (Mira Sethi). However, they were waiting for the rukhsati, after which they could live together as a couple. His father suggests Zeeshan have a paper marriage (court marriage) with Romaisa. Zeeshan tried to discuss this matter with Rabia, but she demanded a divorce from him. She was not okay with the decision to get him married to Romaisa. Zeeshan finally agrees to marry Romaisa, but he remains indifferent to her.

Zeeshan mostly lived away from his home because of his job. One day, he got shot during his police duty. He had to remain with his family while he recovered. Romaisa takes care of him, and he begins to understand her situation. He also gets attached to her daughter Maham, and she starts calling him 'Papa.' Zeeshan's mother asked him to marry another girl and leave Romaisa to her fate, but he refused. Now, he realized his parents' true intentions in arranging his marriage to Romaisa. He was very disappointed with his parents because of their attitude, behavior towards Romaisa, and greedy intentions. He left the house with Romaisa and her daughter Maham.
