Mere Paas Tum Ho is a Pakistani serial that premiered on 17th August 2019 on ARY Digital. The show focuses on Danish, Mehwish (his wife), and Roomi (his son). Danish is a simple man who lives by his moral values and loves his wife and son. However, Mehwish doesn't believe in values and has luxurious needs that her husband cannot fulfil. Mehwish wants to live an expensive lifestyle and be seen as equal to Anushey, her wealthy friend.

The story escalates when Mehwish develops a liking for Shehwar, a rich businessman, at her friend's event. Soon, Shehwar and Mehwish started having an extra-marital affair. After months of being in a live-in relationship, Mehwish insists Shehwar to marry her; however, on the wedding night, Shehwar's life takes a dreadful turn when his wife sees him getting married to Mehwish. As Shehwar's wife is the sole owner of his wealth under Shehwar Chemicals, his luxurious life sees a downfall, and Mehwish regrets her decision to leave Danish and Roomi for wealth. The show starred Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan, and Adnan Siddiqi in lead roles. Thematically, the series resembles the Hindi-language Indian romantic drama movie Akele Hum Akele Tum. However, that movie was an adaptation of an American one, Kramer vs. Kramer. This series is also available digitally on YouTube and ARY Zap App. Later, it also inspired the story of an Indian drama serial, Kaamna. 

Mere Paas Tum Ho is the story of Danish and his wife, Mehwish. Humayun Saeed, shown as Danish Akhtar, is a simple man and an honest government employee. He believes in the moral values and ideologies of Pakistani culture. His world revolves around his wife Mehwish and son Roomi. Ayeza Khan, shown as Mehwish, is a faithful and ambitious housewife. She has expensive taste and desires to lead a wealthy lifestyle. However, this is beyond the reach of her middle-class husband. She often compares herself with her friend Anushey, who is rich. Despite all this, the couple loves each other and lives a decent life.

One day, the couple goes to the wedding of Anushey’s brother. There Mehwish meets Shehwar Ahmed. Adnan Siddiqui, shown as Shehwar, is a wealthy and handsome businessman. His flattery and wealth bewitches Mehwish instantly. It results in an extra-marital affair between them. Shehwar also offers her a high-paying job in his company with added perks. Danish and his son oppose this job offer because they suspect the relationship between Mehwish and Shehwar. 

Eventually, driven by her desires, Mehwish leaves her husband and son. She started living with Shehwar in a live-in relationship. After some months, she convinces him to marry her. However, Shehwar’s wife, Maham, returns to Pakistan on their wedding day. It turns out that Maham is the sole owner of all the wealth under “Shehwar Chemicals.” She slaps Mehwish and kicks her out of her house after giving her some money. She also gets Shehwar arrested for fraud, forgery, and illegal transfer of funds. Hence, Shewar Ahmed loses his wealth and respect overnight.

Mehwish visits Shehwar in jail, who now detests her and holds her responsible for his misfortune. Now Mehwish has nowhere to go since Danish had already sold their old flat. She buys it with the money given by Maham. During this period, Danish invested most of the money in the stock market and became rich overnight. He has also developed a great friendship with Roomi’s teacher, Hania. However, Hania started liking Danish romantically. She even confesses her love to Danish, who does not reciprocate her feelings. 

Meanwhile, Mehwish seeks help from Salman. He is the business partner of Danish, and their mutual friend from college. So, Mehwish constantly tries to ask for forgiveness from Danish via Salman and requests to meet him once. Danish forgives her but refuses to meet. She also attempts suicide to regain his affection, but Danish does not turn up to meet her in the hospital. 

After some time, Maham forgives Shehwar and brings him home. She demotes him from the position of CEO to a mere executive. It does not sit well with Shehwar, and he finally realizes his mistakes. However, his ending was ambiguous, whether he left Maham or complied with her arrangement and stayed. On the other hand, due to the insistence of Roomi and Salman, Danish agrees to meet Mehwish one last time in their old flat. However, during their small talk, he started feeling suffocating and discomfort. While leaving, he suffers a major heart attack due to facing his disloyal wife and the grief given by her. Danish dies during treatment in a hospital. Roomi turns to Hania after the death of his father, leaving Mehwish alone for the rest of her life.

This Pakistani TV serial became very popular worldwide. It also received eight nominations and two winnings in the 19th Lux Style Awards. Its final episode was a ‘mega double episode.’ Its finale simultaneously aired on TV and in the various cinemas of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. The serial’s star cast was also present in one of the cinemas in Karachi for the finale. It also became the first Pakistani serial to be ranked number one in trending on Twitter worldwide.
