. The series had been set to premiere at the Series Mania Festival, which is held annually in France. The series has a humbling yet unbelievable twist in the plot. “Barzakh”, as the name suggests, translates to ‘obstacle’ or ‘purgatory’. The series is set to revolve around family and fantasy. Fawad plays the character of a man who is a single parent and is also dealing with the loss and guilt accompanying his dead wife. On the other hand, Sanam is set to play the character of a young woman who is mysterious in nature.
However, her compassion and kindness are on a different note compared to the other characters. The show blends both reality and fantasy, accompanying the various aspects of loss and the five stages of grief. How a single father reconciles with his child and how a family affects a child is broadly shown in the series. The story is set in the Hunza Valley and is based on its myths and legends. It focuses on the concept of love and longing. Eternal love, which goes beyond the concept of death and dead ends and brings forth a deeply set philosophical message, is what the series is all about.
