Abbas Akbar is an upcoming Tamil screenwriter working in Singapore for Tamil movies. Singapore-born Abbas is of Tamil descent; his parents were born in Chidambaram and Tiruvannamalai, which are situated in the state of Tamil Nadu. His birth name was Mohamed Akbar Tabare Alam.

He started off his cinema journey in the film industry as a junior artist for many local production houses. He is the second son of his family. His elder brother Elias Mikhail also works in television serials with his very well appreciated role in a tele serial Vettai and his younger brother Shabir is a music director.
