Kopi Kade is a Sri Lankan serial in the Sinhala language. It premiered on 1st April 1987. It aired 1500 episodes over many years and ended. It started again on 17th January 2017. Thevis Guruge and Andrew Jayamanne have created the show. The cast includes Rathna Sumanapala (Kopi Kade Hamine), Rodney Fraser (Gajan), K.D. Siripala (Dingi Mahaththaya), Geetha Bulathsinghala (Geetha Naga), Upasena Subasinghe (Pala), Jayarathna Rupasinghe (Sirisena), Saman Gunawardena (Banda), Sena Gunawardana (Kiri Hoda), Upali Silva (Sugathan), Wasantha Kumarasiri (Sunimal), Kapila Sigera (Shelton Mahattaya),Ariyasena Handuwela (Village Officer), Niluka Rekhani (Kamala), and Niluka Rekhani (Kamala).

The series revolves around a village named Kopi Kade. In Sinhala, it means small shops that serve coffee, tea, snacks, and groceries. The place got such a name because the villagers’ lives revolved around similar ‘kopi kade’. The show discussed everyday events in the villagers' lives in a comedic way. The show portrayed everyday gossip, challenges, and special occasions in the inhabitant’s life. Women would meet each other when visiting grocery shops and gossip and discuss. The men would meet in the coffee shops and discuss their interests and issues. The directors portray the events in such a way, that the audience sees the characters as genuine. The characters provided sheer entertainment in every episode. 

The program aims to highlight social issues with a comedic twist to make the audience aware. The program would show an inhabitant of the village struggling with issues while everyone works together to help him find the solution. Kopi Kade is also the longest teledrama in Asian television. It is a cult favorite among the Sinhalese audience. It is fit to be watched by an audience of any age.
