Rathna Sumanapal is one the best Sinhala actress and dramatists, predominantly working in Sri Lankan cinema, television, and stage drama. She was born on 10 June 1940 in Palmadulla, Sri Lanka, and her real name is Podirathna Manike Abeygunasekara. Rathna has four siblings, two brothers and a sister. She completed her schooling at Ratnapura Baranduwa Junior School and later went to Pelmadulla Central College for further studies. Rathna Sumanapala married Raja Sumanapala, a famous Sri Lankan cinema, television, and stage drama artist. They had four children, two daughters, Waruni and Manjula, and two sons, Prabash and Mahesh.

Udaya Kumari Ranasinghe is a renowned Sri Lanka actress who worked in Sinhala movies and Tv series. She was born in 1967 and debuted in the entertainment industry with a comedy-drama Tv series, Kopi Kade, by several directors. She appeared opposite Rathna Sumanapala, KA Piyakaru, and Rodney Fraser in the series, released on 1 April 1987. Udaya Kumari debuted in the film industry with D. Wimalaweera's Sinhala drama film, Sujatha, released on 15 June 1994. The film starred Sabeetha Perera, Sanath Gunathilake, Satischandra Edirisinghe, and other Sinhala actors.
