The story of the show is set in a village. The show is full of suspense, romance, and humor. The show explores the themes of relationships, family dynamics, love, loss, and village life. The story opens with Thara, a young girl playing by the river and conversing with fish. Thara appears to be a dreamy, imaginative girl who loves her company. Her mother is presented as stubborn and impatient. She searches for Thara while carrying an infant. Upon finding Thara, she scolds her for wandering. Thara’s mother always shouted at her. She was friendly to her other children but very rude to Thara. Thara finds solace in nature and often talks to the Moon about her sadness. She is presented as a happy child but has her sorrow buried deep inside. Her mother shows favouritism to her other child. Thara’s father intervenes and asks her mother not to be so harsh with Thara.
The mother expresses doubt about whether Thara is genuinely their child. This creates a mystery in the story. The story is about the daily life of the villagers, doing their daily chores. The story set in a village background adds much depth to the show. We see Thara's father interacting with his mother-in-law, who insists on him having breakfast before leaving for work. This scene paints a picture of typical family interactions and caring. The drama introduces another storyline with the character of Padma, a recently widowed woman who arrives at Thara's family's house in distress. Padma's situation provides the viewers with the absolute truth about the social challenges widows face in the community. She explains that her late husband's family blames her bad luck for his death. This part of the show touches on themes of superstition and family honor in the traditional locality. In another part of the village, a grandson is combing the hair of his grandmother. The grandmother complains that he is not doing it correctly. This scene showcases the generational bonds and conflicts within families. Later the grandson asks whether she tells him the stories. So, she recites the poems about Yashodara's love for Siddhartha. The story blends cultural storytelling and Buddhist tradition.
This represents the village lifestyle where the people of all generations live together with their family. The minute conflicts and discourses that happen in small families are also mentioned. The story further explores Padma’s character. She has her struggles. As a widowed woman, she has to face social judgements and pressure from her family. Her mother suggests that she remarry. Her husband has been dead for only three months. She deeply loves her husband and is mourning for him. She cannot completely forget him. Padma angrily replies that she couldn’t do that. The next day when Thara was lying with her brother near their lake, her mother scolded her. She said they are fishing on Poya Day (a Buddhist holy day). Her mother shouted and attempted to beat them. This incident proves to be a turning point for Thara, who decides to run away from home, setting up a potentially dramatic arc for her character. The rest of the story is available to watch. The episodes of the show are available on YouTube and the Sri Lankan website WatchLanka.
