Kalijai is a drama serial on Tarang TV. The prime time Odia language serial first premiered in 2019. This serial is available to watch on the Tarang TV website or the YouTube Channel managed by the Tarang TV network. Biswa Ranjan Mohanty has directed the serial. The story follows the life of Jaai. She is the daughter of Ratana, a poor man. On her birthday, Jaai’s father takes her on a visit to the temple of Kaali. Trahima is a fish mafia lord of the Chilika area. He loses his daughter in an accident. Coincidentally Jaai resembles his dead daughter, Jaya. Trahima’s wife Jamini is delusional. She thinks Jaai is her daughter, Jaya. She kidnaps Jaai and takes her home. Ratana searches for his daughter frantically. Trahima helps him out in his search. In the end, they find her with Jamini at their house. Trahima watches on as Jamini is happy after a long time. He requests Ratana to allow Jaai to stay with them.

He promises to give her a happy and comfortable life. The poor father agrees, unable to do so on his means. Thus the serial follows Jaai through her life as she grows up and goes in search of her real parents. Jaai is united with them in the end with the help of goddess Kaali. The serial is well-loved. It expresses the religious faith of the regional people and has received considerable fame.
