Jatra is the most extensive form of entertainment in Odisha. This show focuses on presenting Jatra's journey to Odisha. Current affairs, gossip, and rumors surrounding the lives of Jatra actors are the focus of this show. Jatras are usually four-hour epic pieces, preceded by a musical concert often lasting an hour, used to attract audiences. The dramatic performance with dramatic monologues, songs, and duet dance routines to folk tunes, often serve as scene transitions and sometimes mark the end of an act.
The performance will be on stages open to all sides in open-air arenas. It had little or no furniture or props; it was seen instead as a neutral space, free to be given a sense suited to the stage; this technique continued even when it played in the front stage theatres. Sets, props, and lighting came much later when they were with Western theater in the late 19th century, as urban educated youth began to join the Jatra tradition.
