And then the twist starts from here when Umaina becomes pregnant with her boyfriend Bilal, who refuses to marry her and tells her to abort the child. People in the community and her family reject her, and she’s kicked out of the hostel she lives in. Shameem brings her home and proposes marriage to her. The series has total of 20 episodes. Mr. and Mrs. Shameem is a drama web series written by Saji Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar. The series premiered on 11 March 2022 and consists of a total of 20 episodes. The revolves around a couple and how they face the challenges of society together as a team. Umaina is portrayed as a beautiful, young, and independent woman who is currently living in a hostel situated in Lahore. Shameem on the other hand is depicted as an effeminate man who gets constantly picked on and made fun of. A number of circumstances and incidents bring both Umaina and Shameem closer to each other and they are forced to live together and later get married. Here starts their married life and the challenges it brings for them.

The story starts by showing Umaina and Shameem being invited to a TV show where they are both asked to share their story and life, especially Shameem who recently recovered from a fatal disease. As Umaina starts to tell the story the audience gets to see it as the series shows the past where Umaina was a very young woman. Shameem, fondly called Shammo is the elder brother of Salma who happens to be a friend of Umaina. Umaina visits Shammo's house because of Salma's wedding. Shammo sees Umaina for the first time who came along with her boyfriend known as Bilal. It is soon revealed that Umaina is pregnant but when she refuses to abort the child Bilal slaps her. Though she is hurt she tries to calm Bilal by saying that his masculine features are what attracted her to him in the first place. She visits the hospital soon after this incident.

Shameem visits her in the hospital quite frequently and constantly checks up on her. Things soon go downhill for her when Umaina reveals her pregnancy to her parents who verbally abuse her and ultimately kick her out of the house because of her bringing down the name and reputation of the family. She decides to return to the hostel but she is devastated to learn that she won't be allowed to stay in the hostel as her step-mother had already informed the warden of her pregnancy. The warden thinks of it as a bad influence on other hostellers and eventually decides to kick her out as well. Shammo decides to help her out and advises her to stay in his house instead. Skeptical at first, Umaina decides to do as told. Shammo lies to his family about the situation by saying that the hostel had been closed and therefore Umaina would be staying with them for a few days.

When the family raises more questions about this sudden change and Shameem proposes marriage to Umaina she becomes angry and leaves the house saying that Shameem is too effeminate for her liking. She goes back to Bilal but eventually is brought back by Shameem and they both decide to get married for the best. After the nikah, Umaina decides to become a mistress for Bilal who pays no respect for her emotional needs and focuses solely on her body. This angers her and a frustrated Umaina leaves Bilal for good. She gets depressed about her marriage and the whole pregnancy and when she eventually gives birth she suffers from post-partum depression. She doesn't care about the baby at all which affects its health and Shameem is the one who feels bad for the whole situation and decides to care for the baby.

The family soon suspects that the baby is illegitimate and looks down on Umaina but it never deters Shameem. Shameem who had been looked down upon his entire life because of his feminine features decides to stand up for himself and fight for his right place in society. Umaina eventually figures out her mistake and decides to help Shameem overcome the challenges they both face regarding their marriage. How they overcome the flaws of the judgemental society is what constitutes the rest of the episodes.
