. U Cypher (also called U Cypher with MTV) is India’s first multi-platform, multi-game, e-Sports tournament that brought together six gamer teams to win Rs. 51 lakhs. The show provided a platform for many gamers to display their talent and prove that sitting in front of a computer and playing games all day could win you money too (it is still not advised).
The six teams, Yakshas, Marksmen, Sherdils, Akramaks, Yodhas, and Crusaders, compete across three different platforms: gaming consoles, PC, and mobile phones. The games involved are; Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Data 2 on PC, Tekken 7 on PS4, and Real Cricket 2017 on mobile phones. Each team competed with all the other teams in the tournament. Each episode featured all the four games between two teams, and these games brought them to gain league points. Only four teams went to the finals, where they played Knockout rounds. The winners, Yakshas team with 106 points, went home with Rs. 51 lakhs. The first runner ups were the Marksmen with 92 points.
