Venita was born in Dehra Dun, Uttrakhand, India, in 1966. She completed her schooling at Loreto Day School, Kolkata and graduated from St. Xavier’s College. Later, she moved to Mumbai, and from Sophia College for Women, she did her diploma in social communications media. She wrote and directed her first television series, which is "Head Over Heels", in 1987.
