Khandaan is a television series that aired on Doordarshan in 1985. It follows the life and times of the Premchand family, a wealthy business family, over several generations. It aspired to be the first long-running television drama on Indian television. It attracted a substantial audience and was a success, but the state-run Doordarshan would approve of an endless daily serial. This show ends after showing some exciting episodes from the life of the joint family consisting of an elderly couple, their children, daughters-in-law & grandchildren.
