The show “The adventures of Tenali Rama” follows the story of the famous Indian scholar, poet, thinker, and a special advisor to king Sri Krishnadevaraya. He was a Telugu poet who hailed from the land of Andhra Pradesh. He was known throughout the country as being a highly intelligent, smart, and witty person who was very loyal to his king. The show depicts the various achievements and personality traits of Tenali Rama funnily. The show captures the various adventures Tenali Rama goes through and the various times he has to prove himself to the members of the court to keep his image intact.

The show focuses on the witty side of Tenali Rama and therefore in the result is a mostly funny show which makes it a perfect show for kids of all ages. The major characters apart from Tenali Rama were King Krishnadeveraya and Rajguru Tathacharya. The show was produced by Toonz Animation Studio for the hugely popular International cartoon channel, Cartoon Network. This show was one of the original Indian shows that were part of CN’s localization strategy for India. The channel began this initiative because of the huge viewership that they enjoyed in India and this was an attempt to provide quality animated shows for kids to watch that was made originally in India. He began developing the show with them and then later Arial Prendergast joined hands as the show’s screenwriter. They all developed the show and then later pitched the show to Cartoon Network that was already looking for an Indian show.

The show was picked up and then produced originally in both, English as well as Hindi. The show released on the channel in 2003 and became a hugely popular show which made the producers of the show dub the show in Tamil which was released on the Tamil channel, Chutti TV. The show became popular in all the languages and thus was a huge success for the channel.
