Gargi Roy Chowdhury is an Indian actress best known for her works in Bengali cinema and also for Bengali theater. She is one of the most prominent actresses of Bengali screen. She works in Bengali cinemas in Tollywood and daily soaps in Indian television. An amazing actress, Gargi started her career as a theater artist, performing in Uttaran. After that, she played a role in Bohurupee. She used to be a news presenter and radio host too. She is also an anchor. Gargi has portrayed a variety of characters in cinemas and television.

A vetern filmmaker and actress, Aparna Sen has been in the industry for over half a century. Born on 25th October 1945 in Calcutta, she completed her Bachelor’s in Arts from Kolkata’s Presidency College. She showed an interest for films even before graduating as she appeared in Teen Kanay, a Satyajit Ray film, at just the age of sixteen. 

As an actress Sen has appeared in over 62 films throughout her career, the last of which was in 2014’s Chotushkone. She has worked heavily in both Indian and Bengali films and received various prizes throughout her career including the Moscow Film Festival’s Best Actress award for her role in Mahaprithibi. 

She debuted as a director in 1981 with 36 Chowringhee Lane winning the Indian National Film Awards, Best Director. The film also won an award at the Manila International Film Festival. Having directed over 11 years throughout her career many of her films were well received including the hit Yugant. The movie won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.

Shruti Das is an Indian Television actress. She predominantly works in the Bengali industry. Shruti is a well-trained dancer too. She has completed her studies at Katwa DDC Girls High School. She went to Vidyasagar College For Women. Shruti made her debut in television with daily soap named Trinayani. She featured in Desher Mati as a teacher and the wife of the protagonist Noa Bose Mukherjee. Since childhood, Shruti wanted to become an actress, and now she has accomplished this with her sheer hard work and dedication. In 2015, Shruti was seen in an Oriya-language movie named Mo Dil Kahe Ilu Ilu.

Kaushiki was born on October 24 in the year 1980 in Kolkata. She is a great and eminent Classical Vocalist of the Indian origin. She belongs to a well-reputed and well-known family in Kolkata. She has her training in the style of “gayaki” of Gharana of Patiala. She honed her singing skills at the “Sangeet Research Academy” where her father taught. She is well trained in the ‘semi-classical” and “light classical” music genre which includes “khayals” and “thumris”. She has received many applauds and accolades for her passion for music as well talent. She has been recognized and honored by various national and international awards like the BBC award in the year 2005. She has shown her skill and talent in various national and international festivals too. She was born to Chandana Chakraborty and the prominent Classical singer Ajoy Chakraborty. She is married to Parthasarathi Desikan and did many performances with him at many concerts and shows. They have a son named Rishith.

Mamata Shankar was born on 7th January 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal. She belongs to Bengal’s one of the most influential family. Her parents, Uday Shankar and Amala Shankar both were legendary dancers and choreographers of their time. Her brother, Ananda Shankar is a well know indo-western fusion musician. She is also the niece of Pandit Ravi Shankar and cousin to Norah Jones. Mamata received her training in dance and choreography from her father’s institute called Uday Shankar Indian Culture Centre and got trained by her mother itself. She is married to Chandrodoy Ghosh and had two sons- Ratul Shankar and Rajit Shankar Ghosh. Her husband Chadrodoy presently runs Udayan- Mamata Shankar Dance Academy along with Mamata founded in the year 1986.

Swastika Mukherjee is an Indian actress who was born in Kolkata in the year 1980. Her father Santu Mukhopadhyay is a renowned Bengali actor. Swastika started her career as a TV artist through the tv serial Devdasi. At the time she started her career, she was in her college doing her graduation in history. After few serials, she entered the film industry in the year 2001. Hemanter Pakhi was her first movie and she played a minor role in that movie. She started to lead the films through the film, Mastan. While doing her Bengali films, Swastika was rumored to have a date with her co-actor Jeet.

Sohini Sarkar is a recognized Indian Bengali film and TV actress. She hails from Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and was born on 1 October 1986. She has done master's in chemistry from the University of Calcutta. Sohini was fond of acting since childhood and commenced her career in 2008. Sohini led a predominant role in TV serials like Rajpath that premiered in 2008, and Adwitiya that on-air in 2011. Her latest television commercials include Bhoomikanya. She also acted in the movies like Phoring and Rupkatha Noy in 2013 and Byomkesh Pawrbo in 2016.

Kumar is a producer in the entertainment industry. He worked in various films, such as “Saradaga Kasepu,” which focuses on the character of Ranga Babu, who is a driver and has a childhood friend named Srinivas, who belongs to a wealthy family and lives in the US. However, Srinivas was forced by his parents to get married to Manimala, who is the daughter of Raja Rao. Srinivas ask Ranga babu to portray him as Srinivas and know more about the character of Manimala.

Ishaan Ghose is a talented Indian writer, editor, director, and cinematographer from West Bengal, Kolkata, India. He is the son of filmmaker Goutam Ghose who works in the Bengali Film Industry. His mother’s name is Neelanjana Ghose, who is a costume designer. Ishaan debuted as a camera assistant in 2011 and continued till 2015, when he got the first chance to work with his father’s Indo-Bangladesh co-production in ‘Shankhachil.’ In 2016, Ishaan along with his sister Anandi began to document the ragpickers in the Tiljala area for an NGO. He then worked as an assistant or the cinematographer’s assistant on commercials, documentaries, and feature films. His well-known work is “Jhili.” “Raahgir” is also one of the works of Ishaan. 

Jisshu Sengupta is an artist who is known for his versatile performance in Bengal Film and Television sectors. Originally named as Biswaroop Sengupta, he is fondly called as Jisshu by his friends and family. His father Ujjwal Sengupta too belonged to Bengali film industry whereas Jisshu's mother Mukta Sengupta is from wedding planning industry. On personal front Jisshu is married to Nilanjana Sharma, since 2004. She is daughter of another veteran Bengali Actress, Anjana Bhowmick. Jisshu's fame began in cricket, then strongly routed in Bengali television and film industry. He played for sub-junior level cricket representing Bengal. However, he always wanted to enter silver or movie screen. He got his first break with a television mega serial by name Mahaprabhu. This is a turning point in Jisshu's acting career. He played lead role in this serial as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. In terms of big screen, Jisshu worked with few finest directors in the Industry. He worked with Shyam Benegal, Rituparno Ghosh, Gautam Ghose and many more. In his recent movies his well matured performance as Byomkesh Bakshi, is much applauded. He also played a villain role in Arshinagar and proved that he well suits negative shades as well. His performances are always known for stepping up from the earlier ones. His director Anjan Dutt mentioned in an interview that Jisshu is one of those very few actors in the industry who try and elevate themselves by few more notches, every time they play a new character. Piku (2015) is one of those films which brought Jisshu closer to larger section of audience. He had gained immense popularity in Bollywood too, with this movie. Recently he played cricket for team Bengal Tigers in T20 match in the Indian Celebrity Cricket League. He led the team as captain and made a crucial half century while playing in opposite to Kerala Strikers.

Suchismita Dasgupta is a famous Costume Designer, Stylist, and entrepreneur from the Bengali Film industry. She graduated in commerce at the University of Kolkatta. Later, she earned a diploma in Advertising and Brand Building from Clarion College of Communication and a diploma in Commercial arts at Birla Institute of Liberal Arts and Management Science.

Bickram Ghosh is an internationally renowned tabla player, with over 100 albums to his credit. A worldwide-recognised name in the field of Indo-fusion music, Ghosh has worked with artists like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar and even George Harrison (a Beatles band member), right before his death. He is also a composer and an actor, composing music for over 21 films, and has acted in two Bengali films. Born on 20th October, 1966 to a musical family: his father being the tabla maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh and his mother, classical vocalist, Sanjukta Ghosh, Bickram's training in tabla from his father began at a very early age.

Subrata Barik is an art director and production designer in the Bollywood film industry. He is known for Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Sigh (2016) directed by Sujoy Ghosh, produced by Sujoy Ghosh, Suresh Nair, and released on 2 December-2016 and Badla (2019) directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Gauri Khan, and released on 8 March-2019. His other movies as a production designer are Chaplin (2011), Aborto (2013), Typewriter TV Series (2019), Mandaar TV Series (2021), and Ballabhpurer Roopkotha (2022). He was an art director for Buno Haansh (2014) and Hello Remember Me TV Series (2022). He was selected for the Filmfare Awards Bangala 2022 and the 19th Star Screen Awards.

Indraadip Dasgupta, an acclaimed music director and a National Award-winning director, is one of the prominent music composers in the Bengali film industry. Born as Chirodeep on 17th January 1973, Indraadip Dasgupta was brought up in Kolkata, India. He began his music career in 2003 as a composer in the movie Mohul Bonir Shereng. Then, in 2004, Indraadip Dasgupta composed songs for the films Teen Ekke Teen and Prohor. He combined with music director Jeet Ganguly for the movie Bor Asbe Ekhuni. In 2010, he got roped in to be a part of the sports comedy film Le Chakka. For Le Chakka, he used the vocals of singers Shreya Goshal, Monali Thakur, Shaan Mukherjee, etc. The soundtracks of the film got noticed and gave Indraadip Dasgupta name and fame.

Most famous for his songs in Aashiqui 2, Arijit Singh has established himself as a prominent playback singer and music programmer. He was the runner-up in Fame Gurukul, a singing competition, in 2005. He then went on to win another singing reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil.

Born in 1987 in West Bengal, Arjit was trained in classical music by his aunt and mother. He had a passion for music from an early age and his parents decided to get him a professional trainer, Rajendra Prasad Hazari for classical music and Dhirendra Prasad Hazari to train him at tabla.  His teachers encouraged Arijit to try out for Fame Gurukul in 2005 and chose to promote the Indian classical music genre.

Pritam Chakraborty gave Arjit a chance and signed him for three films; Crook, Golmaal 3, and Action Replayy. He made his debut singing “Phir Mohabbat” for Murder 2 in 2011. This kickstarted his career as a playback singer and led to him singing songs such as; “Raabta", “ Duaa", and “Phir Le Aya Dil", earning nominations for the latter two in Mirchi Music Award With the release of the hit song “Tum Hi Ho” Singh became a common household name. The song helped him win nine awards from various award shows. He has since sung.

Arjit is known as a down to earth, hardworking singer. His hobbies include badminton and writing.

When we talk about the few legends in the Indian film Industry then it becomes inevitable to take the name of Mithun Chakraborty; more commonly known as Mithun Da.  His real name is Gouranga Chakraborty, and he was born on 16th of June 1950. He is not only an actor, but also a producer, singer, social worker, entrepreneur, and writer. In addition, he is also a member of the Rajya Sabha Parliament. It was the year 1976 when Mithun Chakraborty made his debut with the art house drama called Mrigayaa. The fact that he won the first National Award of his life right from his debut film gives a sheer proof of his supreme talent. But, it was not the end; after winning the National Award for Best Actor for the art house drama, he won two more National Film Awards.

Mithun Chakraborty started as a dancer, which helped him to set himself up as an actor. This is the reason why he became immensely popular with his street dancer role in the movie called Disco Danger (1982); where he played the character of Jimmy. After earning immense popularity with this movie, he won National Awards for the movies called Tahader Katha and Swami Vivekananda, in 1992 and 1998 respectively. Apart from working in Hindi movies, he has also acted in Oriya, Bengali, Punjabi, Telugu, and Bhojpuri films. In total, he has worked in more or less 350 films. He is also the main judge or the Grandmaster in the TV show Dance India Dance; and for this his name has been entered in the Guinness World Records.

Anirban Bhattacharya is an Indian-actor. He is a stage player and an actor. He is born on 7th October 1986. He is born and brought up in Midnapore, West Bengal. He has completed his schooling from Nirmal Hriday Ashram Catholic Church High School. After completing his schooling, he moved to Kolkata and there got the admission in Rabindra Bharti University for studying Theatre as the subject. After completing his graduation, he got admission for pursuing his masters in theater, and there he received the Young Artist Scholarship from the Cultural Ministry of Government of India. After a lot of practice in the year 2010, he started his theatre group named 'Sangharam Hatibagan'. Under the title of his theatre, he directed four plays named Guru, Chowmatha, Udorniti, and Pontu Laha 2.0. At the time of his graduation and post-graduation, he has participated in various plays.

We couldn’t decide what precisely makes our heart stop at the sight of Abir Chatterjee! Abir Chatterjee made his huge name as a popular Bengali TV and film actor, and went on to top the list of Calcutta Times Most Desirable Men of 2014. Born on November 18, 1980, in Kolkata, West Bengal, Abir is the son of theater personalities Phalguni and Rumki Chatterjee.
