Aditya is sentenced to death, as he is charged with terrorism. As none appeals for him, Aditya requests the court to appoint a lawyer to take up this case for him. Manasa is a lawyer. Her father, a senior lawyer, compels her to take over Aditya's case, as it might lead her to a better career. Sriman Narayana is also a prisoner and he is in the same prison where Aditya is put up. Sriman is a talented chess player. Soon, he teaches the game techniques to Aditya and after a certain point, Aditya excels at Sriman. What’s the connection between Aditya and Yatra? How did she enter his life? Will Manasa help him escape from the sentence? The answers form the rest of the story.
Nithiin looks good. But, he didn’t suit well for a conman’s role. Rakul has given out a good performance and her minute expressions are so good. Priya Prakash did her best and so does Simran. The rest of the stars are also good.
The characters are neatly penned and nothing like usual heroism. Yet, there are action sequences that are well developed and executed. The biggest plus is there is only one song in the movie. For stories like this, if they insert songs as they usually do, it will spoil the movie-watching experience. Although Nithiin looks smart, his body language didn’t fit the role. The cinematography is quite okay. The music is not much impressive.
What’s Not There?
The film has both pluses and minuses. If you love to watch prison dramas with a different script and direction, you can try it!
