Analysis
The movie ‘Adavilo Last Bus’ was originally released in Kannada and after its successful reception, this movie was brought to the Telugu audience. It is a psychological thriller based on a fresh and different story. The main plot of this film involves six passengers, who board a bus to reach their destination but got stuck in a haunted bungalow. There is a lack of synergy in the scenes of this movie. It begins with Prithvi’s point of view but soon shifts to that of the director. Also, there are a lot of subplots in this film, which weren’t important for the main storyline. The motives behind the actions and psychics of the characters in the movie weren’t explored in depth. The acting performances of the actors in this film are up to the mark, even though, there wasn’t much scope for character development. There are some bone-chilling scenes in this movie. The cinematography of this film is very good. Pantra’s beautiful locations enhance the movie-watching experience of the viewers. The movie heavily relies on its visuals, but the use of graphics and VFX in this movie isn’t pleasing at all. The songs of the movie are good, but the background score of the movie is a major drawback. Editing in the second half of the movie makes no sense, as it fails to establish a tentative relation between some scenes. The dubbing and dialogues in the Telugu version of the film felt too loud, which made them unbearable for the audience.
What’s There?
•        The film is based on an engaging and impactful storyline.
•        The acting performances in the film are impressive.
•        Praise-worthy cinematography is a major asset of the film.
•        Decent music adds to the watching experience of this film.
What’s Not There?
•        The film fails to create a horrifying atmosphere.
•        The unbearable dubbing of the film irritates viewers.
•        Poorly written screenplay makes the second half slow.
•        Unanswered subplots and certain plot holes in the storyline fails to impress.
Verdict
The first half of the film hooked the audience because of its psychological elements. But the director fails to do the same in the second half. Most of the story was revealed in the first half due to which the whole second half felt nothing but an attempt to stretch the movie. The screenplay of the movie doesn’t offer much to the audience. This thriller movie offers nothing unique to viewers other than a basic plotline with a generic story.
