Plot: This movie is about the life of Griffin Keyes (a zookeeper), who loves all his zoo animals & is very comfortable with them. Naively expecting the story to be related to zoo keeping is not advised as this turns out to be a romantic comedy which is severely lacking in its comedy quotient. When Griffin is about to leave the Zoo, all the animals gather up to stop him from doing so and tell him their biggest secret i.e. They can talk, and they have various accents. Analysis: Assuming the movie will be on the level of Dr. Doolittle is ill-advised as this is a romantic comedy which primarily consists more of the protagonist love life than his relationship with different animals. The movie which will attract the attention on many kids and juveniles may have some jokes which are inappropriate. Is this a great film? No, but this is a decent family entertainer. At, least animals advising humans on their romantic life is something new to look forward.
Star Performances: Kevin James has done a good enough job on being the lovable all-American slob. Even though Rosario Dawson doesn’t have an extended screen time, she has put in a solid performance nonetheless. The chemistry between Kevin and Bernie (the Gorilla) is also pretty good.
What’s there?
• The animation is one of the highlights of the film.
• Kevin James portrayal of an everyday Joe is perfect, and he has done justice to the role.
• Rosario Dawson has put in one of her strongest performances.
What’s not there?
• The role played by Rosario Dawson could have been given a bit more exposure.
