authors, Marlene King, the director of the most famous television series- Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars- is ready to stretch the game one step further by adapting this spine-chilling novel into a motion picture.
Having been inspired by real life events, the plotline adds a diabolic twist to the usual teenage hierarchical predicament, when the new girl at a local high school, Sofia Flores, is asked by the popular kids, Grace, Riley, and Alexis, to join their clique. Sofia's initial approval for these seemingly perfect girls quickly turns to fear as she finds herself involved in a torturous exorcism of Brooklyn Stevens, who is believed to be possessed by the admired trio. Brooklyn's isolation and Sofia's fear of the girls holds them captive in the basement, both experiencing different kinds of hell.
In addition to directing, King will also fill the position of scriptwriter and executive producer to this new age horror flick. Leslie Morgenstein, the producer of Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl, and the President of Alloy Entertainment, along with Elysa Dutton, the VP of Alloy Entertainment, will produce this latest adaptation. Also, the movie will be distributed by Lionsgate, the Canadian-American entertainment company to have pocketed the Hunger Games series, and the Divergent series, among its sizeable portfolio of films.
The release date and cast haven't been decided upon yet, but judging by the production team itself, there's no doubt the movie is going to be a huge hit.
