She grew up in Jacksonville and Middleburg. Then, she went to the University Christian School, before moving to Wolfson High School, when she was in 10th grade. At the age of 17, she went to Los Angeles, in California, to practice acting. Joe was her elder brother. She is popularly known for acting as Alice Cullen in the picture adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's ‘Twilight’ novels.

Tom has three older brothers Chris, Ashley, and Jonathan. He went to Cranmore School in West Horsley until the age of 13, and later went to the Howard of Effingham School. He sang from an early age, and when he was seven years old, he joined the Guildford Cathedral Choir. He was also a part of four school choirs.
