Plot
Detective John Shaft went through a lot of difficulties due to his job. His wife, Maya, decided to divorce him and take their son JJ with her. The reason for divorce is because they were drug lords Pierro had an assassination planned on JJ is now grown up and has become an FBI analyst and cybersecurity. JJ’s soldier friend dies, and he considers it drug overuse. This causes him to look after his case. He asks Doctor Sasha to look over his friend’s medical report. Sasha confirmed that his assumption of the death by overdose of drugs was accurate. JJ asks his father, Shaft to help him in the case. Shaft was aggress, and both father and son went to solve this case. What will happen to both of them? Will they be able to solve this dangerous case? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Samuel L. Jackson, as John Shaft, did an incredible performance in the film. Her journey to solve this case with his son was brilliant. His detailing of the case was outstanding in the movie. Jessie T. Usher, as J.J. Shaft, did a fantastic performance in the movie. He shows the nature of a young and energetic detective. His acting was to the point. His dialogue delivery was factual and natural.One would hate Isaach de Bankolé as Pierro “Gordito” Carrera after watching this movie. That much impact he made in the whole film. Her appearance as the drug lords was scary, horrifying, and, at the same time, creepy. Regina Hall, as Maya Babanikos, did a remarkable performance in the film. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was great, funny, and entertaining. The film focus on the central theme of drug dealing cases. The film is based on the Shaft series. The film shows how three generations of detectives work in their field. The action in the movie was well choreographed. The script was good, but it is outdated. The storyline lacks freshness. The storyline can be improved in the movie. The cinematography and direction were good. The comic nature of the film is maintained from the start till the end. The adventurous journey of Shafts solving the case together is demonstrated in the movie. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were okay in the film.
