MORE CAST & CREW
It’s a 2011 3D action-thriller movie. In this film, director Alister Grierson tried covering the life of an underwater cave diving team.
Plot-
Josh, a seventeen year old boy (Rhys Wakefield), along with his girlfriend, Victoria (Alice Parkinson), travels to Esa’ala Cave, an underwater cave exploration site in Papua New Guinea. Josh’s father, Frank (Richard Roxburgh), has already established a base camp at a lower level inside the cave.
When they were exploring the entrance system, Jude (Allison) faced a problem with her tank air hose. After a few exchanges, she panicked and drowned. Josh tried to reveal the reason behind Jude's death, as the team was struggling to determine who is responsible. They proceed to reach the team.
Josh expresses his desire to return to the surface. His father, Frank, agreed and allowed him. When Josh dived towards the surface along with three other team members, they find the storm they were trying to avoid is now turning into a cyclone. Josh cannot leave his father and the rest of the people in such hard times, so they move to rescue them. Frank and the team had no choice, but to leave their camp and head to the surface. The water rushes through and forces Victoria and Josh to fall back down in the flooded base camp. The team is finding their way out of the cave. They tried hard and found a hole in the bottom. As the team marched on, they faced a collapse and were very near to death. That pit separates them to the other side, but does not succeed. Unfortunately, the central opening in the middle of the tank, which was filled with water, is the only opening they have. They proceed back to the cave.
After all that struggle and disappointment, they finally reach the point.
Analysis-
Well, money alone does not make a good movie. The director tried hard to amalgamate the different aspects of the film, and because of which not even one was completely definable. A 3D movie, along with graphics, needs to correlate with the story as well. But this movie lacked in many parts.
Star performances-
Acting hardly rises above the material, they all were average. Roxburgh’s acting was very superficial, and Carl also didn’t justify. Alice was pathetic as Victoria.
What’s there-
Aquatic scenery and beauty in the water are shown beautifully. Marvelous use of graphics.
What’s not there-
The direction could have been better.
Verdict-
One can see the movie for the sake of adventure, but they need to keep their expectations low.
