The movie ‘Rob the Mob’ is based on the true story which happened in 1991 when the whole of the New York City stood by to watch the ongoing trial of mob kingpin John Gotti.
Plot: The flick unfolds with lovers Tommy Uva and Rosie Detoma robbing cash from a florist at the gunpoint on Valentine’s Day. Tommy robs as Rosie waits in the car gifted by her father. Tommy is caught by the police, and the law sentences him to one and a half years in prison. Dave Lovell is a criminal, who mends his ways and runs an agency collecting debts. Rosie gets a job in the agency. Also, Tommy is given a chance to make amends, and he joins the agency. But, the unexpected happens. Tommy guides people on how to swindle money from Lovell’s company.
During the trial of John Gotti, a person’s testimony turns favorable for both Tommy Uva and Rosie Detoma. In fact, the testimony reveals that no mafia gang is allowed to carry weapons. So, Tommy and Rosie brandish weapons and go on a robbing spree and plunder the mafias. Both the lovers feel like they have struck the lottery. But they do not realize the gravity of the problem as they come under the scrutiny of both the FBI and Mafias.
The movie does not revolve around just these two lovers Tommy and Rosie. There is a FBI agent in the movie (Frank Whaley). A journalist also emerges (

). The journalist is seen keeping track of the Mob for almost 30 years. He pens down a story covering the front page. The story is about the criminal pair whose identity is yet to be unraveled. He gets dumbstruck, as one fine day, he receives a call from Rosie making corrections to facts.There is an unexpected twist in the story, and it appears like the movie is going to be a seat-edge thriller. The twist is such that, both of the lovers rob a guy and find a list with confidential details about the Mob. ‘

Verdict: the movie does not grab the attention of viewers as much as the title of the movie does.
