Plot
A rock Musician and a carefree girl start an intense relationship, which soon turns into a world of drugs and crime.
Star performance
The actors have acted well in the film. Lexi Redman is a good actress but in this film she has shown the emotions all at once, which seems not genuine. This has more to do with the direction given to her; she still puts forth an incredible performance. The rest of the cast does a formidable job.
Analysis
The film is visually outstanding. The colors, the intoxication all come together beautifully and as the cinematographer Rob Willey has outdid himself especially considering that this is a low budget film. The film parallels the famous Bonnie and Clyde and how their self-destruction became their ultimate downfall. The acting performances are good, some of the character arcs are questionable, but the actors have done their job well. The film has quick cuts that almost feel like a film recap. The music is another highlight in this film, elevating the inebriating theme of the film. The second half is messy but the third act puts the film back on track. The story should’ve been more explored and with a pretty generic climax the film loses itself. But the director has shown his potential and is a talent to be reckoned with. Despite a generic climax and a-hit-and-a-miss story, this film has much to offer with its mesmerizing cinematography, a beautiful music album, and excellent acting performances. River Road is an extraordinary attempt to showcase the dark side of drugs. It does falter in some instances but all and all a good film.
