Plot

Ramyug is a modernized retelling of Ramayana, the mythological story of Lord Rama and his life battles. It is one of the ancient scripts of Indian history that entangles some religious beliefs. It follows the prince of Ayodhya, Rama, throughout his journey of exile with his brother, Lakshman, and his new princess, Sita. While living in the forest, Sita gets abducted by the devious Ravana, so to rescue his wife, Rama plans with his close alliances and an army of monkeys. After their triumph against Ravana, they return to Ayodhya.

Star Performance

Diganth Manchale played his role decently, but Aishwarya Ojha and Kabir Duhan Singh portraying the lead cast, couldn’t connect with their characters or the audiences. They felt stiff and empty in their mythological performances that disdained the majority audience. Other cast members did perform well, but it wasn’t enough to redeem the series.

Analysis

This series presents an interpretation of an epic mythological tale of good winning against evil in the end. It was a great effort but a letdown as it showcased a weak impression and lack of impact. The viewing experience felt rendered due to its failed visual effects, average acting performances, and average storytelling skills. The series had a short running time which the execution lacked to have a broader and grander influence on viewers. Some plots were inaccurate as well. It was just a simple remake with modern visuals and better production quality. Few new concepts like Ravana’s multiple personality disorder were clever writing, but they weren’t enough for this series. It did show potential but lost the chance of being a fresh and immersive experience overall.

• Clumsy writing that takes away from its epic plot
• Few misinterpretations and inaccuracies 

Verdict 

This series is for a youth-oriented audience who is interested in Indian mythologies. Yet it cannot be watched as an authentic composition but as more of a fictional thought. Viewers would need to lower their expectations for this experience.
