Plot

Star performance
The leading pair has palpable chemistry and Raymond Bagatsing, Rachel Alejandro have excelled in their performances. The supporting actors most of them feel like are only reading the script, most of them have a monotone dialogue delivery.
Analysis
There have been a lot of WW2 films, some of them are cult classics, some are just there. This film is also just there, and has more to do with production value. The story is about the President Manuel L Quezon and his contribution in the independence during WW2 and also helping 1200 Jewish refugees. The film has shown the tragedy with sensitivity but the production value and the makers focus more on the international audience lets this film down. Okay the story does cater to a large audience but mainly the film is about the second President of the Philippines so the focus should be more around that. The leading pair put out great performances but the supporting actors are a huge disappointment. The story takes the film forward and is the main highlight and the film should only be watched for that even though a documentary would have been much better. You can’t ignore the lack of resources for a long time. The film is quite similar to “Schindler’s List” not because it shares similar themes but also in its making there is a dialogue where Quezon asks his wife “Could I have done more ?” The film’s incoherent choices are also a demerit. Filipino characters should talk in their mother tongue especially with each other but no the locals are speaking in English with each other. The film falls short in so many departments that an earnest story falls flat. Quezon’s Game can only be watched for its story.

Verdict
Quezon’s Game should have been made as a documentary rather than a biographical drama because you can’t let go of the lack of resources for a long time and with the lack of production cost and the laziness of people behind the camera lets this film down. You can watch this film only for informational purposes.
