In short, this movie is like the story of Cinderella i.e. a girl pretending to be someone she is not.

Analysis: This feature film is like a tweeners version of ‘Sex & the City’. It is slow to start with as it shows the strained relationship of Grace with her stepdad and stepsister. The film is visually very appealing with the beautiful locations of Europe and the adorable Selena Gomez. But one feels that this family bonanza starts to pick up when the Grace is confused with another girl, this remains the high point of this modern fairytale as it literally, trudges along. Monte Carlo is like a fairytale, charming and predictable.

Star Performances: Selena Gomez dazzles the screen with her energy and adorable looks, there wouldn’t be anyone more perfect for the character than her. Even though the cinema is not a blockbuster, her playing the lead character makes the film a little worthwhile. Katie and Leighton, who are also provided with enough screen time did justice to their role.

• Sugary sweetness, the kids will love it.

What’s not there?

• A solid story to back the performances.

• No thrill, as the story is very predictable.

Verdict: This is like a fairy tale movie with a lot of wonder and sweetness, the kids will unquestionably love it. However, if you want some unpredictability and are allergic to over sweetness, this is not your cup of tea.
