Plot
IP Man is a martial artist who keeps a low profile in Hong Kong. He lives with his younger son, IP Ching, and his wife, Cheung Wing-sing. During this time, a band of brutal gangsters, led by a property developer, tries to take over a local school. IP Man stands against this. The remainder of the story deals with this.
Star performance
Donnie Yen features a fantastic performance as a legendary Wing Chun Master. His performance not only serves the role of a martial artist well but also brings the emotion, humility, and honor that the character includes. His deep approach toward the character makes IP Man relatable to the audience. The antagonist, Mike Tyson’s performance brings more intensity to the film. His power and presence suit the character well. Lynn Hung adds sentimental elements to the film. All of the cast have performed well in their assigned role.

IP Man 3 is an action thriller directed with a clear intention to entertain both martial arts lovers and general audiences. Wilson Yip brings in character development, he portrays IP Man as a master of martial arts as well as a man with vulnerabilities. He has well maintained the essence of the time period shown in the movie, through detailed designs. The cinematography features well-choreographed fights. Kenny Tse captures the traditions beautifully. Editing is done skillfully, joining the quick cuts, especially the fight scenes. The music composed adds flavor to the fight scenes. The action sequences are well-choreographed.
This film navigates into preserving the traditions of Wing Chun amidst the rising popularity of Western boxing. The character of IP Man has honor and integrity, they are tested as he faces various problems. Beyond the martial arts, this film portrays the different relationship bonds, husband and wife bonding, father-son bonding, etc.
In the second half, the film’s pace is uneven. The plot is predictable. The movie focuses on the main character, the supporting characters could have been more fleshed out. There are stereotypes of Western villains in the movie.
