The movie is based on the first lunar landing in the year 1969. The movie is based on NASA's Apollo mission. NASA, the American space agency were ready to launch their first lunar mission with men on the shuttle. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the men chosen to go into space and land on the moon to research the Earth's only terrestrial satellite and bring its surface sample which is to be researched.
Though NASA had full confidence in the mission, US government still had doubts about it and were worried about the slight chances of the mission getting failed. Everyone is worried about the slight chances of the mission getting failed. What happens if the shuttle faces some problem and the men are left on the moon all alone by themselves. If they fail to land on the moon and the mission fails in completing the objective.
For all these matters, the US White House representative sends a letter to the Mavericks, Neil and Buzz regarding the uncertainties. The letter comprises of the matters which leads the movie. The White House Committee reject the proposal of sending another space shuttle to rescue them if the mission fails on the same basis. The movie goes depicting the lunar landing and the success. Neil Armstrong goes on to become the first person to set foot on the moon.
