Plot
The film’s protagonist is Miles Harris, played by Daniel Radcliffe. Miles works as a computer programmer, and one day, in his free time, he watches a live stream of a group named Skizm and leaves hateful comments because of the disturbing and violent content. Skizm was an organization that pitted criminals against each other in a death match. The following day, Miles wakes up to find guns bolted to his hands and was pitted to fight Nix, played by Samara Weaving, the game’s deadliest player. Miles tries to reason with Nix but fails and flees when Nix shoots at his apartment. After this, Miles tries to go to his ex-girlfriend Nova, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who is horrified upon seeing Miles’s condition. Miles keeps on running away from Skizm, but Nix keeps on finding him. The film follows Miles as he tries to survive Nix’s attacks and find courage during the process.
Star Performance
Daniel Radcliffe delivers a good performance as the nerdy Miles, who is just trying to survive the nightmarish hell imposed on him. Samara Weaving is phenomenal as the passionate, somewhat deranged Nix.
Analysis
“Guns Akimbo” has comedy, action, violence, and gore. The action scenes are precise and well-shot. The humor in the film falls flat sometimes.
