Kerem Sanga directs the emotionally inclined thriller, The First Girl I Loved. Seth Caplan, David Hunter, and Ross Putman head the production team under the labels of Tilted Windmill Productions. Kerem Sanga devised the screenplay. The music pieces are compositions of John Swihart. The editing credit goes to Shane Hazen, while Ricardo Diaz handles the cinematography.

Plot
The First Girl I Loved is a film that explores topics like homosexuality in a positive light. It revolves around the life of Anne Smith, who develops a crush on Sasha. This is the first time that Anne explores her sexuality and tries to confide in her best friend, Clifton. It turns out that Clifton has feelings for her and has now made his life to destroy Anne’s peace. Sasha and Anne are complete opposites, with the former being a yearbook editor and the latter being a sports star.
Anne tries to initiate conversation with Sasha via interviews and soon they both start talking casually. At this point, Anne is completely in love with Sasha, but the latter gives her many mixed signals. Also, Clifton tries his best to ruin Anne’s reputation in front of the entire school and before any of them realize it, parents and authorities are involved. Anne stands by Sasha while she tries to distance herself from the protagonist.

The First Girl I Loved is a movie that was presented at many film festivals and caught the audience’s eye. The best-observed performance was of Dylan Gelula as Anne Smith. Anne was an emotionally confused young adult who tried to explore her sexuality and romantic preferences for the first time in her life. Her role required someone with exceptional talent and Dylan was the perfect choice.
Analysis
The First Girl I Loved is the director’s attempt at trying to throw a positive light on societal issues such as different romantic preferences. The highlight of this movie is that it shows morally compromised characters. The characters are depicted as flawed creatures, the viewers can resonate with them. Also, the unanswered ending forces the audience to introspect into our realities and question our choices.  There are a few points that could have been improvised.
The storyline has a huge scope for development and a lack of effort is seen in the execution of the plot. Also, no positive development is shown in the characters as the movie progresses.
