A group of people goes for a hiking trip to a spot near the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear factory. Each of them is getting killed by different creatures, which are completely affected by the radiation that happened years ago.Â
Plot:
Chris, his girlfriend Natalie, and their mutual friend Amanda stop at Kiev, Ukraine before heading to Moscow, to meet Chris’s brother Paul. Paul suggests them to go for an extreme camp near Chernobyl factory, and this idea is not supported by Chris as he worries about the radiation. They meet Yuri, the trip guide, and another couple namely Zoe and Michael. They visit an abandoned spot, and checks through the buildings present there. They come across a mutant fish that can live on land, a bear, and many humanoid mutants. Each of the characters either gets killed or gets captured by humanoid mutants. Finally, Amanda is getting rescued by the military personnel, and she is forced into a dark cell since she knows much about the danger.
Few of the scenes, (like the van failing to turn on, and the cell phones with bad signals,) were too obvious. After getting into trouble, the decisions took the group was so absurd. This negative point happened to be a turn-down for the story. The locations and the sets were so real. The director, Bradley Parker, has utilized his chance over the location perfectly. The sinister feel was maintained throughout the movie. The concept of youngsters visiting an abandoned place is realistic because most of the young people love to do something that is thrilling. Oren Peli of ‘The Paranormal activity’ fame, has scripted the story of this movie. Gradually we had some expectations from his works, but this movie was not close to it. Most of the upcoming scenes were easily predictable. The Camera is shaken to show the tension in those situations to the audience. But this effect was annoying for the most of the audience.
Verdict:
A horror film with lack of suspense.
