Mira Nair
has brought fame to the country, her award-winning film that released in 2001 will be made into a musical theatre. She started out as an actress. She also narrated for the movie, ‘Salaam Bombay’ in 1988. She has directed several successful movies like, ‘Mississippi Masala’ and ‘The Perez Family’. ‘Monsoon Wedding’ is the story of an arranged marriage. Sources say that the director wrote it as a musical in the first place. And now, she will be working with Berkeley Rep to do just that. The director also received the Irving M Levin Directing Award from the San Francisco Film Society. ‘Monsoon Wedding’ will now be showcased in the 2016-17 season of the Broadway run. Along with this, others adaptation include, ‘It Can’t Happen Here’ based on Sinclair Lewis’ novel and ‘The Last Tiger in Haiti’ by Jeff Augustin. Mira Nair is currently shooting for her film ‘Queen of Katwe’ which is based on the life of a Ugandan girl. Congratulations to the actress.
