Abraham and Amit Madhesia are probably aware of all the people in the rural areas of Maharashtra and their relationship with Cinema. They researched for a span of 36 months straight, as to how the natives of the villages, follow movies,as cinema originally took birth from that village. The urban zones of the state had moved on from the single screens to multiplexes, but nobody bothered as to how these movies reached the villagers; or rather how the villagers reached these films. It took three full years, and another five years to make a film on these villagers who experience movies in a nomadic manner. To her surprise, Abraham, during her research phase, found the moving cinema tents on the unconstructed paths of the villages in Maharashtra. When enquired, she got to know that this is exactly how the people remained in touch with cinema for the past 70 years. Finding the unique tradition magical, these two have made the film “Cinema Travellers” which revolves around the folks of the rural parts of Maharashtra finding immense pleasure in the entire concept of a few moving photographs, words, and emotions. Amit says that the madness and love that lies within them flashes in their eyes while watching a film. As the cinema tent travelled through the villages, the people sit inside the tent, which can fit over 2000 people. The film is at the postproduction stage which will be completed by the 11th of May after which it would premiere at the Cannes Festival. It took five years to make a 96-minute long documentary film. It will take you along the villages in Maharashtra, depicting the love they have for Cinema considering their age-old culture and their simple, innocent lives.
