will be honored at the TVO tribute gala for her work in the film industry both nationally and internationally. The event is to be held in Toronto’s Distillery District on Oct. 27 and honors people who have made a difference in the world with their work.
The director will be awarded for her inspirational movie style creating awareness about social issues. The ‘TVO’ CEO thinks Deepa deserves the award for being a spectacular woman and for touching upon issues that even successful directors and producers can’t.
She has been nominated for the Oscars and is known for her human-related films and documentaries over the world. Deepa is known for her trilogy ‘Fire’ (1996), ‘Earth’ (1998) and ‘Water’ (2005). TVO is a Canadian educational television service founded in 1970 and has been honoring people in the sector from that year.
