She married Director and Actor Iqbal Yousuf and had a child with him. They divorced later. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary Lahore, Pakistan. Her debut movie in the Pakistani Film Industry was Chann Mahi (1956), introduced by the Director Anwar Kamal Pasha. He was the one to give her the professional film world name Bahar Begam.
