Akhtar Chanal Zahiri is a famous Pakistani folk singer. He was born in Balochistan in 1954. He is credited with bringing regional and folk songs into the limelight after he was discovered by the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation. He has been asked to perform in front of many important political dignitaries and delegates. He has been fond of music ever since he was young. The music he used to hum when he used to tend to sheep when he was young is said to be his inspiration. He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1998. Baloch, Nar Bait, and Da Sande Zehri are some of his popular songs. He has also sung the song Afghan Jalebi for the 2015 Bollywood movie Phantom.
