Born in 1983 in Tehran, Iran, musician and composer Saba Alizadeh is the son of famous tar and sitar prodigy Hossein Alizadeh. Himself a prodigy of the kamancheh, an Iranian musical stringed instrument, Saba graduated with honours in photography from Azad University of Tehran in 2008. He completed his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Experimental Sound Practices from the California Institute of the Arts, Santa Clarita in California. Saba Alizadeh is an ambitious and passion-driven man who has participated in various art exhibitions all over the world such as the “Appropriation Allowed” at the Aaran Art Gallery in Iran, in 2009, the “Obligatory Military Service” at the Mohsen Gallery in 2010.
During the exhibition held in 2012 at the Silk Road Gallery in the UK, he presented several of his important works under the title “Close Your Eyes” and “Light and Soil”. He also contributed to other works like “ One Day Click to look into! >> Read More... ” for the Art in San Francisco in 2010, and “Am Not Half the Man I Used to Be” at Dar Al Funoon Gallery in Kuwait. Alizadeh founded Noise Works in 2014. Through this platform, he organized experimental concerts and exchanged information and knowledge on music technologies amongst the Iranian youth who found passion in music. This allowed Alizadeh to gain popularity, particularly in the Persian music industry.
For his debut album, he merged elements of tradition and modernity by blending the sound of his kamancheh with that of Persian music, a hint of electronic pieces with an additional recording of sounds from his hometown. The amalgamation of these sounds created his first album titled ‘Scattered Memories’ which was released on February 15, 2019, under Karl Records. His second album ‘I May Never See You Again’ was released on July 8, 2021, under the music label 30M Records. On March 3, 2023, Alizadeh released a single called ‘Nafir (Clamour).’
